Review by Matt Haines - January, 2010

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of Skepsis and it didn’t fail to deliver. It has been three years since the release of Malice along with two national tours in between. Through The Eyes Of The Dead comes out with their newest mind blowing album Skepsis. This is hands down one of the greatest albums that I’ve EVER heard; it’s pure musical genius. Through The Eyes Of The Dead have been dominating the metal scene and keeping us in anticipation with this new arrival of brutality and power. Touching every spectrum of metal, from speedy tremolo picking, amazingly smooth guitar solos, to the most unique breakdowns to hit the ears of metal listeners. Here it is dedicated metal heads, the best metal album to ever come out, Skepsis.

I find it hard to point out every single good quality about this album. It is a musical masterpiece from start to finish. With the addition of new vocalist Danny Rodriguez, his earth rattling lows add a whole new perception to Skepsis. While the viscous low vocals are killing it, the main musical foundation can be found with guitarists: Justin Longshore, Chris Henckle, bassist: Jake Osokie, and godly fast drummer: Mike Rame. These four make it possible for every member to shine in musical talent while making the most metal album possible. All five members bring Skepsis to the highest level of talent, innovation, and performance that they have had their whole careers to the forefront of music.

An interesting thing on this album is that they actually moded their heads for the new sound on the album. They added different tubes, and EQ channel, and a new level of distortion to help bring this album really out into the open. You can really hear the difference in the sound on the tracks No Haven and Skepsis. I know Through The Eyes Of The Dead isn’t the only band to mod their heads, but they do a beautiful job in bringing out a new sound that can only be mastered through extensive try-fail period.

Amazingly smooth sound, beautiful transitions, ear-piercing guitar solos, unique breakdowns, and a gorgeous plethora of mixing and mastering make Skepsis a masterpiece. This album will be set as the new album to beat for the rest of 2010 and a milestone in the history of metal. Check out the release date and go buy this album, February 2. It will change your entire outlook on metal and Through The Eyes Of The Dead.
