Secrets of the World
Review by Matt Haines - December, 2009

Heavy, from the heart, and aggressive, Trapped Under Ice is one of hardcore’s finest and most noticeable bands to spawn out of the scene. Trapped Under Ice brings the fury and destruction to each show and every album that comes out, and Secrets of the World is no exception. With newly added riffs that help set the album apart from other hardcore bands, Secrets of the World is a must have for all hardcore enthusiasts.

After one demo, one split, and coming out with their sophomore release CD, Trapped Under Ice has expanded their musical horizons well beyond hardcore by pushing it as far to the limits as they can. This is how hardcore needs to sound. What really comes out in Secrets of the World is the use of actual guitar soloing that most hardcore bands never do. About every other song has at least some form of soloing or a different variation of effects that help the dynamics of each song reach its true potential.

Not only does the guitar grab you in to each song, but the lyrics are some of the best written that everyone can relate to. Written from the heart by real life events, they touch home for everybody that listens. Coming from the Baltimore area where real hardcore is, it’s hard to stick out from the general norm. Trapped Under Ice has made their presence known all around the hardcore scene. Be on the look out for many tours coming up through the rest of December, January, and February.
