Sleepwalking
Review by Alex Gilbert - November, 2009

MEMPHIS MAY FIRE sure knows how to rock and roll, and their latest Trustkill release, Sleepwalking, brings in a much needed spark into the scene. Sleepwalking is such an exciting rocker from start to finish. It’s more than stylistic; it’s a new fashion!

Opening with “North Atlantic vs. North Carolina“, MEMPHIS MAY FIRE starts out with a big burst of energy, bringing the action from all angles. The song is packed with a ton of mean distortion, bluesy rhythms, and incredible vocal harmonies from Matt Mullin. MEMPHIS MAY FIRE walks through like it’s nobody’s business, and the loud and upbeat riffs are huge. “A Giant In A Giant’s World” follows the opener, and is another fine example of how MEMPHIS MAY FIRE makes the most out of their riffs. All with a ton of class, the band’s transitions are smooth, accents hit hard, and the soaring instrumentation makes for a monstrous attack. “Ghost In The Mirror“ is another hit off of Sleepwalking, and the song can also be found on the SAW 6 Soundtrack. “Speak Now I’m Listening” is where I see MEMPHIS MAY FIRE at their best, and what a fine way to close Sleepwalking! The message encourages us to live life to its best, and how everybody has their flaws, it’s the best that we should all strive for. The guitar riffs come up big, and they paint this incredible picture as the message progresses through. Put this one on repeat!

All at once MEMPHIS MAY FIRE gives a huge dose of classic, southern, and modern rock that is extremely addictive. They’ve got a great musical direction, a ton of potential and it’s those exclamation points that they put into their drive that gives them that edge. I’m excited for their future.

This is a review they deserve to receive. I'm a huge fan of theirs and it makes me so happy to hear that others have enjoyed the album that much, like I have!
