New Era of Corruption

Deathcore has been done to death.  The majority of bands of this genre mainly focus on how heavy they are, making sure that there are plenty of bass drops and blast beats.  Originality is rare to find in your typical deathcore band.  Whitechapel was one of the pioneers of this now laughable genre, and all of these other bands are trying oh so hard to emulate their sound (Oceano, cough cough).  If you're in a band like Whitechapel, do you try to separate yourself from all of your followers, or do you stick to the sound that made you famous?  They chose to settle somewhere in middle, and they seemed to choose option.   If you were ...   Here's Victory Records' version of Sumeriancore.  WITHIN THE RUINS is a technical death metal juggernaut with hints of progressive metal hailing from North Carolina, and their latest Victory Records release, Invade, does show improvement in the band.  Their debut Creature was fairly solid (which they toured the fuck outta that release, these guys are DIY beasts!), and fans of the old should have no problem getting into the new material, because they literally almost sound the same, even within the complexity.  There are some parts on Invade in my eyes that stick out above others, so here they are. “Versus” shows the band in their... Pop-core (or pop-punk that infuses elements of hardcore into their sound) has blown up in the last couple of years, thanks to bands like Set Your Goals, Four Year Strong, and A Day to Remember.  These bands are so popular because they use enormous and catchy hooks followed by moshpit-approved breakdowns, and fans of both genres seem to equally embrace the new sound.  Today, it is easy to overlook bands that use this style because it's so commonly used, but that leaves some truly great bands lost in the shuffle.  Hopefully Kid Liberty gets the chance to rise above, because with Fight With Your Fists, they prove they have the chops to hang with the big boys. &... Whitechapel is one of the biggest acts in the deathcore scene, and with their newest release, A New Era of Corruption, the band is prepared to take over metal entirely.  I caught up with guitarist, Alex Wade while his band was headlining The Corruptour, with Impending Doom, Miss May I, Oceano, and I Declare War.  Check it out…   Tanner Fisher: Ale... Within the Ruins has been an incredibly busy band lately.  Hot off the heels of the band's sophomore record Invade, they recently released their new EP Omen, which they are currently promoting while on The Summer Slaughter Tour.  I had a chance to sit down with vocalist Tim Goergen and Kevin “Drummer” McGuill, as they talk about what it's like being on The Summer Slau... Alex Gilbert at KillerTours recently got the chance to catch up with the very friendly Trey Sexton, vocalist of KID LIBERTY.  Their latest Bullet Tooth release, Fight With Your Fists, is one of the most fun and energetic albums of the year, and the band has potential to really make a name for themselves in the scene, which I'm sure we'll be hearing plenty more from the band d...
